CLIFTON, Wis. (WKBT) - Four people suffered life-threatening injuries during a crash in Monroe County. The incident happened around noon Friday. 

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the department responded to the crash on County Highway A near Jungle Road in the town of Clifton. Deputies found a trailer being rowed by a Honda Pilot became detached and was struck by a Chevy Silverado. 

The sheriff's office says the driver of the 2012 Honda Pilot was 52-year-old George Sonntag.  

The 2016 Chevy Silverado was being driven by 59-year-old Renee Scheeler.

Scheeler and 4 additional passengers were all injured in the crash.  The passengers were identified as 79-year-old Spence Scheeler, 67-year-old Ricki Schwanz, 78-year-old James Fields, and 75-year-old Marie Fields.    

All occupants of the Chevy Silverado were transported to area hospitals due to their injuries.

Three of the passengers were transported by medical helicopter. An additional landing zone was set up at Tomah High School for an extra helicopter. 

The incident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit. 

The Monroe County Communications Center, Monroe County Highway Department, Oakdale Fire Department, Oakdale First Responders, Tomah Fire Department, Tomah Police Department, Gundersen MedLink and Sprit Air assisted during the incident. Ambulance services from Camp Douglas, Mauston, Tomah and Wilton also assisted.

MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) -- Four people suffered life threatening injuries in a crash in Monroe County on Friday afternoon.

A trailer being towed by a 2012 Honda Pilot detached and was struck by a 2016 Chevy Silverado on on County Highway A near Jungle Road around noon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The truck then went in a ditch and rolled multiple times. Four people were in the truck at the time and all sustained life threatening injuries.

Three of the passengers were taken by MedFlight. An extra landing zone was set up at Tomah High School to accommodate the extra helicopter, according to the department.

The incident remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Monroe County Communications Center, Monroe County Highway Department, Oakdale Fire Department, Oakdale First Responders, Tomah Fire Department, Tomah Police Department, Gundersen MedLink and Sprit Air as well as ambulance services from Camp Douglas, Mauston, Tomah and Wilton.
