Probe into Thanksgiving I-81 crash continues

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police still are investigating the cause of a deadly Thanksgiving crash on Interstate 81 involving a tractor-trailer hauling more than 8,000 gallons of gasoline.

Police said a trailer towed by a northbound vehicle came loose and crossed over the median into the southbound lanes. Troopers said they haven't determined whether the trailer impacted the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the vehicle that was pulling the trailer is unknown, police said.

William Golladay, 48, of Mount Jackson, Va., the driver of the tractor-trailer, died after his vehicle overturned and a fire ensued.

He was heading toward Hedgesville, W.Va., at the time of the crash, said Bill Holtzman, president and owner of Holtzman Oil Corp., which employed Golladay.

Questions about whether the trailer was registered or had a vehicle-identification number couldn't be answered “due to the nature of the ongoing investigation,” a state police spokesman said in an email.

Details about the trailer aren't being released, he said.

“Our crash-reconstruction team is still reconstructing the crash, and at some point, we hope to be able to confirm or deny whether the loose trailer impacted the tractor-trailer, thus causing the crash,” the public-information officer said in the release.

Police had said they were unable to confirm the day after the crash whether there had been another vehicle involved in the incident.

The same day, Holtzman told Herald-Mail Media that police informed him that a trailer had detached from a vehicle, crossed the median and struck the drive wheels on Golladay’s tractor-trailer.

The crash shut down all lanes of I-81 in the area of the 18.5-mile marker for most of Thanksgiving night and into Friday morning.

The intensity of the blaze resulted in pavement damage on a section of the interstate.

The Facts:  Under Federal Law all double axle trailers over 3,000 GVWR must have a breakaway cable and a secondary breaking system in the event the safety chains fail and the trailer towing unit separates from towing vehicle.

No national safety standard is in place to ensure that "All" trailers over 3,000 GVWR meets this standard and the fact is all farmers can bypass this safety standard because "Farm Use Trailers" are excluded from all safety standards.

12 States have no registrations for these trailers....and 6 States still have no safety chain law.  The SWAMP knows all of this because we continue to remind them of the amount of deaths and injuries caused by this massive coverup.

This accident ocured on  November 25th and it is not December 19 and we still do not know who owned the trailer.....if they have the trailer and how did it come off.   Every time we enquirer about this accident we get total coverup speak from the SWAMP...however we ask....when an Airline goes down we get some answers in days do we not?

Good morning,

A complete and thorough investigation involving a full crash reconstruction normally takes months. Before anything further could be released, the findings of that reconstruction are shared with the District Attorney’s office to determine whether any charges will be filed.

Please feel free to address further inquiries to the Pennsylvania State Police Troop H Press Information Officer at spsvchpio@pa.gov.

We know about the Space Shuttle....in days....we know about airplanes....in days and a week....but complete and utter silence on a loose trailer?

What?

Why the coverup's?  Why? and Why?  Just who owned the trailer?  Why did it come loose?  Why no action?

Who is in charge?

Who?
What?
When?
How?
Why?

Did we forget basic invistagative science?

www.dangeroustrailers.org will seek a FOIA ....to compell the State Of PA to do it's job....otherwise we will seek Federal Highway Money to be withheld.

The Accident happened on a Federal Highway.....Interstate commerce was stoped for 8 hours.

We got them to release the Bay Bridge Accident...
