A report of a bus verses pickup truck and trailer accident on Highway 49 that sent all six of its occupants to the hospital listed improper parking as the factor that contributed to the collision.

The accident occurred at 12:15 p.m. March 22 near the intersection of Oak Valley Drive. The report by Deputy Dakota Fox of the Jones County Sheriff’s Department stated the white Ford pickup truck was towing a trailer loaded with cinder blocks and was parked partially in the roadway in the southbound lane of Highway 49.

Fox said the location of the truck and trailer prevented other vehicles from safely traveling on the highway. He said the Chevrolet Express Cutaway bus was traveling southbound when it topped the hill and struck the rear of the trailer.
