Another Loose Trailer! Why Did It Come Loose

Incident between junctions 14 and 13 closed the motorway for six hours


A trailer carrying a classic car on the M5 in Gloucestershire on Sunday came loose, police have said.

One man suffered serious injuries in the incident which happened at around 9.15pm between junctions 14 for Thornbury and 13 for Stroud.

The motorway was closed until around 3.15am on Monday for investigation work.

Gloucestershire police said in a statement: "Shortly before 9.15pm police were informed that a trailer carrying a classic car had become detached from its towing vehicle and was in the outside lane of the motorway.

"Officers attended and found that a number of cars had been involved in a collision."


A man in his 30s, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was taken to Southmead Hospital, Bristol with suspected chest and pelvic injuries.

His condition was not thought to be life threatening, police said this morning.
