TOWN OF WALTON, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and the Walton Volunteer Fire Department Emergency Squad responded Thursday afternoon to a crash on Pines Brook Road in the town of Walton.

According to deputies, an investigation found that a man from Sidney Center was driving a commercial truck, towing a trailer carrying a log skidder on Left Pines Brook Road when the vehicle’s brakes failed.
The sheriff's office says the driver lost control of truck and attempted to make a right hand turn onto Pines Brook Road.

Deputies say the truck then struck a sign in front of the Pines Brook Baptist Church and continued to travel down the road. According to investigators, the trailer detached from the truck and overturned in the parking lot of the Pines Brook Baptist Church.

Authorities say the truck continued on and struck a tree before coming to rest on the opposite side of the roadway. The driver was not injured.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by members for the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response Team, Don Oralls’ Garage and Prestige Towing and Recovery.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies anticipate vehicle and traffic law charges will be filed following the investigation.

Like the police investigations always do....they investigate but never give us the reasons why so many of these defective and poorly maintained trailers keep killing over 500 a year now.

How can we fix the problem if so many police agency's are covering up the truth and or make it difficult for us to obtain the truth so we can establish new guidelines and safety standards?
